The coccidiostatic activity of amprolium derives from the mimicry of the molecule with the structure of thiamine, this structural analogy is translated in a reduced uptake of thiamine by the coccidia that results in the inhibition of the multiplication of the same.
minimum concentration of amprolium able to reduce the sporulation of the oocysts in the stool of infected subjects.
Route: orally via drinking water. For active ingredient: Broilers and laying hens: 20 mg of amprolium/kg body weight per day for 5 to 7 consecutive days of treatment. For Whole Product: Broilers and laying hens: 0.8ml of product / liter of drinking water per day for 5 to 7 consecutive days of treatment.
Precaution for human:
- It is good practice to avoid ingestion and contact with the skin and eyes.
- People with known hypersensitivity to any of the components should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. Precaution for animals:
- Treatment should be carried out on the basis of results of the parasitological examination on the stool. If from the results of that examination is the development of resistance to amprolium is evident, use anticoccides belonging to another pharmacological class and with different mechanism action.
- To avoid or delay the onset of resistance, avoid the anti-killing agent is present in water or feed in high concentrations.
- When the content in the diet of thiamine (vit. B1) is excessive, it is possible to have a reduced anticoccidic activity; also, if the amprolium is present in medicated water in high concentration, it can occur in the guest thiamine deficiency.
- Do not mix in solid feed. Precaution during pregnancy, lactation and laying:
The product can be used during egg laying.
- Do not administer in combination with vitamin B1.
- To avoid the acceleration of the degradation of amprolium to picric acid, do not use food containing a high concentration of choline.
- Avoid administration in water rich in Ca ions.
