DORAPALM
injectable solution
(For vet. use only)

DORAPALM

Each 1 ml contains:
Doramectin                       10 mg.
Clorsulon                        100 mg.
Dorapalm: injection is a combination anthelmintic that contains doramectin and clorsulon.
Clorsulon: is a sulphonamide which kills liver flukes by inhibiting their glycolytic pathway enzymes when ingested.
It is effective against all the important internal parasites in cattle that are sensitive to one or both of these families.
Doramectin: is a new fermentation-derived antiparasitic agent which belongs to the avermectin class, and is closely related structurally to ivermectin.
It has a wide spectrum of antiparasitic activity and produce paralysis in nematodes and parasitic arthropods.
Whilst it is not possible to assign a single mode of action to the avermectins, it is likely that the entire series share a common mechanism.
In parasitic oraganisms the effect is mediated through a specific avermectin binding site.
The physiological response to avermectin binding is an increase in membrane permeability to chloride ions.
In invertebrate nervous tissue an influx of chloride ions into the excitatory motor neurone in nematodes or muscle cell of arthropods results in hyperpolarization and the elimination of signal transmission with resulting paralysis.

For active ingredient:
0.2 mg doramectin and 2 mg clorsulon /kg bwt.
For whole product:
1 ml of product / 50kg.b.wt.
The administration equipment must be sterile and clean before use.
– Administer using aseptic techniques.
– Do not use needles longer than 3/8 inch.
– Change needles frequently (every 10-20 cattle).
– Neddle can be sterilized by boiling for at least 10 minutes and storing fully immersed in methylated spirits.
– Care should be taken to avoid the following practices because they increase the risk of development of resistance and could ultimately result in ineffective therapy.
– Too frequent and repeated use of anthelmintics from the same class, over an extended period of time.
– Underdosing, which may be due to underestimation of body weight, misadministration of the product, or lack of calibration of the dosing device (if any).
– Doramectin is very toxic to dung fauna and aquatic organisms and may accumulate in sediment.
Contains no overage and assumes a potency of 100 percent.
The actual amount of doramectin added will depend on the potency of the ingoing drug substance.
– Do not use in cattle during lactation or less than 60 days before calving.
– Do not use in animals within 28 days (4 weeks) of previous treatment.
– Not permitted for use in lactating animals producing milk for human consumption.
In cattle (s/c route only) overdoses up to 25 times the maximum label recommended dose resulted in no adverse clinical sign.
No listed adverse effects.Intramuscular injections may have a higher incidence of injection site blemishes at slaughter than do subcutaneous injections.
Meat:     63 days.
Milk:     42 days.
– Store at temperature not more than 25°C and protected from light.
