CEUTICACILLIN

Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic broad spectrum antibiotic from penicillin group. It’s mainly time-dependant, bactericidal against Gram+ and Gram- bacteria, in particular Actinobacilluspleuropneumoniae, isolated in pigs and Escherichia coli isolated in broilers. Amoxicillin has been shown in vitro to be bactericidal against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, which commonly cause disease in poultry ,and pigs such as – Actinobacillus spp. , Actinopyogenes, Erysipelothrixrhusiopathiae, Staphylococci, Streptococci, Pasteurellaspp, Clostridium spp, Salmonella spp, Haemophilus Paragallinarum, and E.coli.

Poultry (Broiler chickens-Fattening turkey) and Pigs.

Poultry (Broiler chickens-Fattening turkey):-
– Necrotic enteritis caused by clostridium perfringens.
– Pasteurellosis caused by Pasteurellamultocida.
– Colibacillosis caused by E.coli.Pigs: Swine pleuropneumonia due to Actinobacilluspleuropneumoniae.

Orally Via drinking water.

Broiler chickens: 24.59 gm of product /1000 kg.b.wt. in drinking water / day /5 days (0.25 gm / 1 liter).
Fattening turkeys: 24.59 gm-32.79 gm of product / 1000 kg.b.wt. in drinking water /day /5 days (0.25 - 0.35 gm / liter).
Pigs: 2 gm of product / 61 kg.b.wt. in drinking water / day/ 4 days.

– Not to be used simultaneously with neomycin since it blocks the absorption of oral penicillins.
– The uptake of medication by animals can be altered as a consequence of illness. In case of insufficient uptake of feed / water animals should be treated parenterally.
– Use of the product should be based on susceptibility testing of the bacteria isolated from animals. If this is not possible, therapy should be based on local (regional, farm level) epidemiological information about susceptibility of the target bacteria.

– Do not give amoxycillin orally (or parenterally ) to small herbivores such as guinea pigs, hamstersand rabbits as with other penicillins.
– Do not use in conjunction with bacteriostatics.
– Do not use to treat infections caused by Beta-lactamase producing organisms, as amoxycillin is ineffective.

Penicillins may cause hypersensitivity following administration.
Allergic reactions to penicillin may occasionally be serious.

Meat:
Pigs: 6 days.
Broiler chickens: 1 day.
Turkeys for fattening: 5 days.
Its use is unauthorized in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption.
Do not use within 4 weeks from the start of laying.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place used immediately after opening and reconstitution.
