Amprolium is an anticoccidial agent (coccidiostat effect) that competitive inhibitor of thiamine in the parasite metabolism, and interferes Wall formation of the oocysts. Ethopabate is a folic acid antagonist that improves the coccidiostatic effect of amprolium. Amprolium Antiprotozoal activity: It is active against Eimeria tenella, E. necatrix, E. praecox, E.mitis, E. E. acervulinay and E. brunetti. The synergistic combination of amprolium hydrochloride and ethopabate aid in the prevention of coccidiosis where severe exposure to coccidiosis from Eimeria acervulina, E. maxima and E. brunettiis likely to occur.
Broiler chickens and replacement chickens:
– Treatment of intestinal coccidiosis caused by Eimeria spp (Eimeria tenella, E. necatrix, E. praecox, E. mitis, E. acervulinay and E. brunetti) susceptible to amprolium.
– Prevention of coccidiosis where severe exposure to coccidiosis from Eimeria acervulina, E. maxima and E. brunette is likely to occur.
Route:
Oralvia feed. Broiler chickens and replacement chickens: Treatment: 3 gm for 10 kg BW for 3 to 5 days. Prevention: 468.4 – 922.4 gm per Ton of feed for 2 days.
Do not use in laying hens due to a negative impact of amprolium on egg production.
Use as the sole Source of amprolium.
If losses exceed 0.5% in a 2-day period, obtain an accurate diagnosis, and
follow the instructions of your veterinarian or poultry pathologist.
Losses may result from intercurrent disease or other conditions affecting drug intake which can contribute to the virulence of coccidiosis under field conditions.
